Case Studies
We have experience in undertaking a range of car park reports, surveys and assessments for a variety of clients from both the public and private sectors. Here are just a few case studies of some previous work. To find out more, get in touch with us.
Car Park Layout Survey
Client: Southport & Ormskirk NHS Hospital Trust
This project was a two-stage survey - reviewing existing lined parking bay configurations across all Trust car parks and providing recommendations. Firstly, looking at alternative layouts to increase the number of parking bays through improved line marking layouts; and secondly, identifying opportunities within existing car parks, which, with minor civil works, could help to increase the potential number of parking bays available.
Town Centre Parking Review
Client: North Kesteven District Council
Park Consult was initially engaged to undertake a level one review of the town centre parking operations working in conjunction with People and Places (a town centre regeneration consultant). Having been able to quickly demonstrate an understanding of the council’s requirements and an ability to engage with wider town centre stakeholders we were further engaged to undertake more detailed analysis and recommendations to complete a parking review to a level three stage.
Our work facilitated a wider understanding of the council’s managed car parks for both the council and wider town centre stakeholders. We were able to identify capacity within car parks and opportunities to ease pressure for parking at peak times by encouraging motorists to use alternative car parks and by altering tariff rates. We were also able to demonstrate how changes in tariff structures could help encourage shoppers into the town and at the same time increase council parking revenues. Furthermore, we were able to demonstrate the need for car park improvements including alternative payment options to encourage use of the council parking provisions.
In undertaking this comprehensive parking study, we were required to liaise and report into council officers and furthermore provide survey update presentations to elected members and town centre stakeholders.
Car Park Management Equipment Replacement
Client: MDL Marinas
This current project called for an assessment of the complete car park management equipment requirements of a large mixed-use development (encompassing 16 car parks) and also of four additional marina developments, in order to provide a networked equipment solution with a single reporting function.
We reviewed car park equipment options based on type - assessing their suitability with regard to operational suitability, customer experience, capex/ opex costs and revenue maximisation. We worked with senior management teams to select preferred equipment types, prepare tender documents, assess each supplier quote and provide selection recommendations. In addition to selecting equipment, specifications for groundworks were drawn up, liaising with the client’s project manager. Furthermore, detailed support was provided to third-party planning consultants to ensure planning permission for the installation of the equipment was obtained in advance. Additional assistance has been given with regard to parking management signage and tariff changers.
This project continues as we are working with the selected equipment supplier and the client’s access control system supplier to integrate the two systems in order to enable single access control cards to be used throughout their estate.
